If you do not walk or bike to work, then why not at least go on a hike here in Southern California? Here are some photographs I took on a hike last week. I love hiking because it is free unlike a gym membership.
Some of us are pedestrians because we hate driving. Walking is a healthy and smart way to cut down on transportation costs and the gym bill. Take time to celebrate nature by walking through it! Now that I am also riding a bicycle, this blog will feature some of my thoughts on this new mode of transportation.

Walking Everywhere, and Anywhere!
Every now and then I will update this blog with thoughts about walking, and being a pedestrian in Southern California. Between 2014-2017, this blog also featured several posts about my bicycle adventures around Southern California, but as of 2018 I am back to just being a pedestrian. Riding a bike was fun until someone through a water bottle in my chain one day late at night, so since that time I have just felt safer walking.

Walking Around In January
These pictures were taken last week on my walk after the snow fall in the local mountains. The temperature was unusually cold that day, at around 40 degrees in the afternoon, but the clouds and snow capped mountains made for the most splendid photographing opportunities. Also, the palm trees look amazing with sunlight reflecting through, and creating a hazy effect that was achieved without photo editing software.

Taking A Walk Near An Orange Field At Sunset
The other day I decided to take a walk near an orange field at sunset. Loma Linda is one of the few places in Southern California that has a large orange field, as many of these have been cut down over the years to build new homes and businesses. Taking pictures of the orange field around sunset is like going on a walk down California's memory lane.
As I walk by the orange field I took some pictures to show everyone what this part of Loma Linda looks like around sunset. I highly recommend walking so you can see all the magnificent views that usually wiz by as you are zooming down the street in your car.
